“Pigs might fly” says the expression. Bibi (FR) took this quite literally and figuratively! What do we see? Is it an illuminated tree? It is a christmas tree? No! It’s a tree made of pigs, of 28 fluorescent pigs that seem to be flying! Can it get more surreal?
GREENPIGS is a project created specifically for the Amsterdam Light Festival.
This installation comprises 28 illuminated green pigs.
They are made from polyethylene thermoformed objects.
The GREENPIGS Tree treats our future “Biomimicry" with humour.
Let’s look at some science fiction. In several years start-ups will offer alternative solutions for public and show lighting.The method uses solutions that are found in nature, the very principle of biomimicry.
Bacteria enclosed in self-sealing plastic capsules, thus producing green light. Following the dissemination of this bacteria for instance in the rubbish, mutant bioluminescent pigs will appear. In fact, fluorescent pigs already exist...
